Seventh and Eighth grade confirmation instruction classes are taught by Pilgrim's pastors and other staff members. Pilgrim School students are taught as part of weekday morning religion classes, while Pilgrim members who attend public schools attend classes on Wednesday nights. Topics are drawn from the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism over a two year cycle.
Course goals are twofold: to increase students’ knowledge of the faith and to strengthen their confession and living of the faith. Class textbooks are the Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism. There will be out of class readings and memory work along with written quizzes in class.
In addition to the weekly classes, Pilgrim members participating in the confirmation program will have other areas of involvement including required service projects, acolyting and weekend retreats. More information about Pilgrim’s confirmation program will be given as part of the annual parent orientation meeting the end of August.
