Pilgrim’s Church Libraryis again functional. We have more bookcases - thanks to Ralph Yellick. Books have been taken out of storage and are ready for your use. The church library is located at the end of the walkway parallel to the fellowship hall. This is a “serve yourself” library. Follow the directions on the green box on the desk. Keep current at Pilgrimby signing up for “Pilgrim Hotline.” The Hotline is an email service that lists “This Week at Pilgrim” events, volunteer opportunities for funerals, Packer, Resch & other events, also youth, fellowship and school activities. All High School Teens . . . .There’s a New Happening on Sunday morning just for you. It’s a peer led Bible Study which meets at 9:00 am in the Youth Room (Upper Level). A team of 3 (1 senior, 2 juniors) are planning this new venture and they are excited about developing this group. God’s got a plan unfolding. Come and be part of it! Questions??

3rd grade Bible Presentationat worship services on Sept 27th, 28th, and October 1st. Bibles will be presented to all 3rd graders of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, both Day School and Sunday School.

Troop 1211will be selling popcorn beginning September 27th through October 19th in the Narthex. It helps the scouts pay for summer camp and other activities. Most of the popcorn comes in decorative tins, some with 100 years of scouting decorations on them. If you miss us, call Mike Bero at 662-9224 and he’ll get you any product you want.
This year the Men’s Retreatis October 10th and 11th at Whispering Pines on Shawano Lake. Come and enjoy good food, social and recreation time, and an interesting study along with a campfire Vespers Service. The cost for food, lodging and materials is only $49. North Wisconsin District Adult Gathering: Thur., Nov. 6th from 9 am to 2 pm at the Plaza Conference Center, Wausau. Theme: “Joy in the Journey” Speaker: Rev. Dr. John Saleska, Director of Concordia Bible Institute and former professor at Concordia Seminary. Entertainment: “Savior’s Songbirds.” Ingathering for Victory Lutheran Church, Gwinn, MI. for their Thrift Store. Cost is $22. MISSIONS
“COINS FOR CHRIST” - Sarah Longmire has now been in Bangkok, Thailand for about a month. She accepted the assignment of working in two Christian daycares in the city. It is part of a two-year deaconess missionary internship. Thailand’s population is 95% Buddhist. Sarah and the other missionaries need your prayers and the Holy Spirit’s influence to work a saving faith on these little hearts. Your coins in September will also advance the mission.

Packer Party (All Youth) Sunday, October 12th-3:00-6:30 pm as the Packers take on the Seahawks. We will order pizza at the event, bring $5 for pizza and drinks. You are also encouraged to bring a snack to share.
PILGRIM SCHOOL NEWS
“School Picture Day”will be September 29th & 30th. Be sure your child dresses appropriately. Individual pictures will be taken on Monday & groups such as soccer & volleyball teams, choirs & bandwill be taken on Tuesday. Preschool pictures will be taken at their normal class time.
Our Annual Fundraiser Walk-A-Thon will be held on Oct. 3rd. Our goal is to receive pledges of $65 or more per student for a total fundraiser profit of $15,000. A Pie throwing awards assembly has been scheduled for Oct 17th. The money raised will be for the Athletic Department, Einstein Science Units, instructional materials, school supplies and equipment, assemblies, classroom gifts, staff retreats and staff convention expenses.
Boxtops for Education Update It is that time of year to turn in our boxtops. Please bring them in by October 23rd. Boxtops is a great way to earn free money for PLS . Look for products with bonus boxtops. For products purchased at Target, please put the boxtops in an envelope marked “Target”. They are offering 30 bonus box tops for every 30 we collect. N.E.W. Lutheran SchoolsFriday is the annual “Northeast Wisconsin Lutheran Golf Outing!” The only way for you to know if there is still room to play is to call right now (after church) to ask. This is a “Lutheran Weekend” with dinner for all golfers and non-golfers for an evening of fellowship with entertainment. We will enjoy each others company on Friday and then again at the homecoming game on Saturday at 1:00. There is always room for additional volunteers and as you know from experience no one ever turns down money. The Schmeling Endowment Fund will be distributed on October 15th. If you are enrolled in any one of the Concordia Universities and are majoring in Lutheran Education, DCE, Pre seminary or in the seminary, please send a letter stating your major, what university you attend, and what your future plans are to Pilgrim.
